I've been putting off purchasing my first "real deal" kilt due to the enlarged Guiness keg around my waist. However, I've read enough and consulted enough to know that it's not a HUGE deal to make a kilt smaller. But you can't add material if'n you are getting bigger. SO, I'm off to Rocky's tomorrow morning (3.5 hour drive) to get fitted for my first tank. Gunn weathered, 13oz. cloth. I'm stoked!

Hey, I've got one of those.
I can personally attest to the quality of Rocky's kilts. My Gunn weathered is amazing, and the quality of wool is excellent.

Awesome! I wish I'd have asked on here earlier for a picture. I've been laboring over which tartan for a while now. Gunn, MacNeil, or Mackay, and the three or four four choices for each clan! However, as a history buff, I just love the subtle, earthy tones of the weathered Gunn. I'm really excited, and Rocky's work comes highly recommended from more than a few of my close friends. It's reassuring to hear yet another recommendation, and that I don't have to lose the barrel of beer around my waist, ha ha......
Welp, I'm off to Phoenixville!

Yup, Kilts and expensive suits will hopefully do that for you.
When I started here in March I was in the midst of losing ~30lbs. I bought my first kilt at a 38" waist for an event. I'm down to the new last hole on each strap (I punched a new set on the extra strapping). My second kilt was a 36" which fits nearly perfectly.
Now that I'm pretty confident I can stay around my current weight, I'm starting the planning (and saving) for a custom made kilt.
As a bonus, all my suits fit again as well. (I hadn't had to wear them for work in 5 years, and they had shrunk in the closet)

$850 ...... I can't even imagine that. Mine are all SWK's.

I had to have a newer kilt taken in, but I figure that is more than worth it.
Good work, sir!

I thought about trying to do a long distance bike ride to Rocky's, then I realized, if I do a long distance bike ride, I will probably be kiltless. I can't imagine my gut surviving a week or two of long distance cycling. My poor thighs have already made me move back up a pant size, and I blame putting cage pedals on my 2 bikes.

Geoff Withnell.
Actually my kilt came in a few inches too large at the waist (the maker assured me it had to be my fault and possibly it was, me and last few of the eleventy-seven women who did the measuring- never ask for such-like urgent help at work- so the kilt in question is already taken in somewhat past the point of maximum attractiveness. Now that I've thought of it, what I need to do is to gain weight. That I can do, or at least die trying.

If my memory is correct, that includes exchange. The Canuckistanian dollar, affectionately known as the loonie, was rather weak at the time- our previous government held the value down until the loonie almost drowned.
