Dublin (Ohio) Irish Festival
I attended the Dublin Irish Festival this past weekend in fine company of my wife, and 3 friends. ALL of us were kilted. Sportkilt recently had a 15% sale and this was enough to push my friends and my wife into buying their very first kilt.
For an Irish Festival I was surprised to see 3 kilt dealers, Amerikilts, Utilikilts and an independent company. These places were very busy, selling kilts left and right. People would walk into the booth wearing pants and/or shorts and walk out in a kilt! What a world --- and this was an "Irish" festival -- go figure!
There were more people walking around in kilts than I have *ever* seen before in one place! Someday soon, kilts will spill over into everyday life in a very big way. I continue to do my part!
We started the day at the 1PM Irish whiskey tasting, they featured the full-line of Bushmill whiskey. I liked them all, my favorites are the "Black Bush" and the "21 Year Old Malt". If you ever get an opportunity to attend a whiskey tasting, I highly recommend it.
During the day we heard several Celtic inspired music groups, singers and bands. Also attended a workshop on playing a Mandolin.
We had two meals "bangers" and guzzled plenty of Stout.
Closed the day with a battle of the pipe bands, several of the area's local pipe bands came together and wailed their hearts out for us, it was truly inspiring.
All in all, it was a wonderful festival and I very much look forward to it each year!
