You don't have to wear Boots with a utilikilt, or ghillie brogues with any kind of getup for that matter!
I think of UKs as the cargo shorts of kilts, so if I wore one I'd choose my footwear accordingly.

The nice thing about Sports Kilts is that they don't have a whole lot of tradition that has to be slavishly followed... so IMHO almost ANYTHING goes!

I personally find that my old, well broken in combat boots (spit shined, of course!), issued to me 30 odd years ago at Lackland Airplane Patch in Basic Training, work VERY well, with a pair of J. C. Penny knee high socks.

I'm a Biker, and I'm partial to good, strong Wesco boots as safety gear. Personally tho, I don't care for the aesthetic qualities of a pair of 18" Wescos with a kilt; somehow, they just don't go together.
