Converting a Kilted Skirt?

Might be expedient to check out Stillwater and look at the budget end of their kilts...certainly a real kilt at a budget price and no mistaking them for skirts.

Believe me, Canuck, that's at the very top of my list. Which is why I'm bothering to ask the question here before I get the skirt converted. I'm starting to think that I just might go to the local kilt shop and see if they have a Black Watch number for cheap.

Where are you located? You might be able to get a much better deal from an online vendor and Black Watch is very widely available...

In the interest of Internet safety and anonymity, I'd rather not say. I'm in Canada, that's all anyone here needs to know.

But as for online vs face to face shopping, I'm not comfortable buying over the internet yet, as it's inviting difficulties that I don't want to deal with yet. I might in the next couple years, but not yet.

What I was getting at is that some might think a kilt is inheritantly unsuitable for use as a Halloween costume unless, say, everyone is appearing in their national or ethnic dress. To make Scottish dress the mocking equivalent of a vampire or Frankenstein costume is something you should perhaps think about, I mean if that is your friend's idea of what it involves. This is somewhat of a stuffy idea I admit.

At the risk of going slightly off-topic:

If your concern about online shopping is possible credit card or identity theft, many of the online merchants *will* take a money order as payment.

Although I've heard nothing but the best from our sponsors here at XMarks, I've only had personal business dealings with two of them. (And with both of them I have always paid by money order.)

Jerry at Stillwater has had orders out to me in lightening speed, usually shipping the same day he has received my money order.

Rocky at USA kilts is taking a bit longer, but then again I am ordering a custom kilt and his website is very up-front with the delay. My faith that he will deliver is only matched by my impatience to see my next kilt.

Ah. Looks like I explained it a little wrong then. My mistake, and apologies. It's a 16th birthday party set NEAR Hallowe'en. So, while some people WILL be dressing up and doubtless will think I'm costuming as well, it's a show of respect for her and a chance to educate my friends on kilts. So for me this is somewhat like Hallowe'en, seeing as I've never worn a kilt before(aside from cheap Highland Games knockoffs at age 10).

But I'm not wearing it thinking it's the equivalent of a Dracula costume. Farthest thing from it.
