Actually, as a photographer, I designed the Ceangail to be worn anywhere you might wear a tie. Not just for formal situations. I've always disliked wearing a tie, even working at newspapers, because the tie gets wrapped around the camera strap. The Ceangail solves the problem and still looks businesslike.
