Neither. It is pronounced "Hattan," maybe with a slight "roughness" to the h, as found in the word loch,as if you were clearing your throat!

Quite right Sandy. That is how one of the vice-presidents (Cluny-Macpherson) of the Clan Chattan Confederation pronounces it.
