Congratulations!
Congratulations on your 30th Alan, Quite a milestone!!
Great photos, I need to add that to my "places to see" list. Is that on the eastern side of the Sierras near Mammoth or Mono Lake, or just a shared name?
Thanks for sharing your trip, it looks like you had a great time.

There are actually two MONO PASS's in the Sierra. This one is accessible from two directions.
From the West side, you turn up into the Sierra Nevada around Fresno and head for Shaver Lake and Huntington Lake. past Hunintington Lake, the road climbs...goes to VERY narrow and bluidy awful after about 12 miles, and crests Kaiser Pass at about 9,100 feet. The road then gets worse, drops almost 3,000 feet and you have 21 miles of it to get to either Florence Lake or Lake Edison and back up to about 7800 feet, which is roughly the elevation of the two lakes.
From the East Side, you'll want to look for Rock Creek and the Little Lakes Valley. I posted pics of our trip there, on X Marks last year. You start at a much higher elevation from the East side, and it's usually a day and a half, or even just one for most experienced hikers to crest Mono Pass and drop down into the first couple of lakes on the other side.
