Congrats on 30 years! Thanks for posting the beautiful shots. It's good after 30 years you two still enjoy the each others company, and in such a beautiful location.

Great photos, I need to add that to my "places to see" list. Is that on the eastern side of the Sierras near Mammoth or Mono Lake, or just a shared name?
Thanks for sharing your trip, it looks like you had a great time.

There are actually two MONO PASS's in the Sierra. This one is accessible from two directions.
From the West side, you turn up into the Sierra Nevada around Fresno and head for Shaver Lake and Huntington Lake. past Hunintington Lake, the road climbs...goes to VERY narrow and bluidy awful after about 12 miles, and crests Kaiser Pass at about 9,100 feet. The road then gets worse, drops almost 3,000 feet and you have 21 miles of it to get to either Florence Lake or Lake Edison and back up to about 7800 feet, which is roughly the elevation of the two lakes.
From the East Side, you'll want to look for Rock Creek and the Little Lakes Valley. I posted pics of our trip there, on X Marks last year. You start at a much higher elevation from the East side, and it's usually a day and a half, or even just one for most experienced hikers to crest Mono Pass and drop down into the first couple of lakes on the other side.

Thanks for posting these shots.
It's always interesting to see how mountains in other parts of the world look. The ones we have are old and tree-covered, and very green. Yours are younger and rocky and have natural lakes.
Please pass on my congrats to the Luminous Joan for putting up with you for 30 years.

Congrats on your 30th. Loved your pics. Did you have the opportunity to fish any of those lovely bodies of water? Looks like some fine trout water.

Joan and I were commenting that the lower part of Mono Creek, getting down closer to the lake where it widens out, looked like movie-perfect fly-fishing water. Like...think "A River Runs Through It".
I'm not a fly fisherman myself but it looks like fishing heaven to me.

Great way to spend your anniversary! It's hard to believe 30 years...niether of you look old enough for that. You guys must be living right. Congrats and here's to another 30 years!
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.
