I of course told her that I wear them almost all the time, and she asked if I was wearing one to my interview. I said no, and she told me that I really should! So I'm going to. Let you all know how it goes come Monday.
Wow, I'm jealous. It's not every day that a potential employer specifically requests that you wear a kilt. I want a job like that!

    Update

So I went in for my interview on Friday and it went GREAT! We sat down and he basically told me I have the job once he clears it with my current boss. Let me explain. Right now, I'm the cheese and beer buyer for a company here in Madison. The place I'd be moving to wants to work with my current company in the future, possibly opening some co-franchises. Basically, the new company wants to make sure that I leave my current place amicably so that we build a strong relationship for the future. On the plus side, my new boss said that because I'd have intimate knowledge of both companies, I'd be prime material for running the co-franchises in the future! Man, the possibilities...

    Bravo!
I'm imagining that, should you land this new job (and it sounds very likely) your celebration will be a wonderful spirits and cheese 'do'?

    Good luck!

Turned out to be a canvasser job with pay dependant on how many voters signatures I manage to get. Not so great. Frustration... Oh well.

It's probably a good thing, Nighthawk. Hope things go better in the hunt.

Do you wear a kilt normally? A pertinent question. I do and I always wear a kilt to job interviews as a result. so far I've had no adverse reactions to it, just interested questions as to why I wear a kilt.

My take on this as a computer programmer is that what I wear does not influence my competency to do my job and any company that thinks otherwise can stuff their job. Yes, I have been in that situation and yes, I did walk away from the job having been offered the position with the proviso that I wear "normal" clothes.

    They were surprised.

I was amazed that they had the temerity to do this. Dare I say discrimination?
