Seeking: Fellows of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland
I am seeking any xmarks members who might be Fellows of the Society of the Antiquaries of Scotland, in order to be able to ask a few questions about the society itself and potential membership. Please PM me. Thanks.

Good luck, Jeff, in this new undertaking!
I am not a member, though I would also eventually like to be considered for membership of this venerable organization. I feel I have a long way to go, a great many things to learn, myriad books to read, and questions to ask and have answered before that day comes.
So, you may see a similar post from me in the coming years.

All you have to do is write to the secretary of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland requesting details of admission to the society. It's all very straight forward from there.

Have you perused their website? There's quite a bit of information there, as well.

According to their website, you need to be recommended by two current members of the society (though the director can approve submissions accompanied with references from others outside the society).
I would guess that Jeff is looking for members that might provide him with the required references.

Bingo. That and some idea of just what depth and breadth of research, knowledge, commitment, involvement, duration, etc..., is required to be realistically considered. I guess I am trying to guage what it takes to become a fellow of this venerable institution, not just the application process, but the real meat and potatoes.
Although, like Groucho Marx said, "I am not sure I want to join any club that would have me as a member."

Please let us know what you find out, Jeff; I can't imagine the two of us would be alone in our interest in membership.
