Your Favorite Glass - A Photo Log

    Here's the premise.

One image- your favorite glass with your favorite beverage in it.
    White background only- nothing fancy.

Tell us what brand of glass it is (if you know) and why you love it.

This isn't meant to be specifically about the beverage, there are plenty of threads about that. This is for displaying and discussing the glassware.

    Here's my favorite

Maker- It is Block Crystal, from Poland. It is leaded. The glass is roughly 3.75" high, and the same in diameter. The massive foot on the glass brings the weight of each glass to nearly two pounds!

I should note that the sides of the glass are actually straight, it's my bloody camera that fish-eyes everything.

I LOVE the heft and the smooth, slight irregularity of a nice hand-blown glass.

Shown in the glass is a splash of Laphroaig 10 year. Seeing the slightly oily amber-gold liquid rolling around in one of these huge tumblers is a joy.

How I got them- My (then girlfriend) wife and I bought two of them about fifteen years ago in Chicago. We found out about a month later that the style was discontinued, so we drove back down and bought the last four available.

To date, only one has fallen in service. It was my favorite, the one pictured is my new favorite

So, what are you drinking FROM?

    Great idea for a thread!!

I wish I could contribute, but I don't think you want to see my Anchor Hocking brand rock glasses. Someday I'd like to have a set of leaded glasses...ah...someday...

Bah! I don't care if your favorite glass is a jelly jar with a chip in the rim, if it's your favorite, fill it with your favorite and give us a pic of it!

    Lol...

Okay...I'll take a picture of my cheap glass with expensive Scotch in it later perhaps...I think I may get sent to rehab if I were to attempt a glass at 11am (current time).

I rarely drink out of glass ( except for wine, soft drinks, beer, and ice tea ). Here in Kentucky silver julep cups are de rigueur, especially for bourbon.

This cup is one from a set of 24 given to my parents as a wedding gift, and subsequently given to my wife and me when we were married. They are sterling, and were made by a silversmith here in Kentucky.

We use julep cups all the time. When my younger brother Hugh was about 8 years old, he went to a friend's house for dinner and had a glass of water, served...in a glass. He told my mother when he returned home that the water tasted odd. The poor boy had only had water served out of a silver cup all his life, so of course the water tasted odd!

This was in a Glenmorangie presentation pack and is one of a pair. It is leaded crystal and weighs 12oz. It has a heavy base and sits very well in the hand. Its usually filled with Glenmorangie, either the single malt regular, or the port or burgundy wood finished malt (It's only 9am here so it's not filled this early)

My favorite would have to be the Sam Adams Perfect Pint
