Greetings and Salutations,
As soon as I found this site I knew I was home. I'm fairly new to the kilt lifestyle but I must say, I have never before known true comfort. I only have one that a friend's mother made a long while ago and lets just say that it's time for a new one. I am going to attempt to make one for myself. Wish me luck.

Good luck with that...there's no shortage of reference material available and if you haven't seen a copy of the Art Of Kiltmaking, you should try to get your hands on a copy...probably the most comprehensive book on the subject...
Search around the forum and you'll find several older threads that reference sources of material and kiltmaking techniques.
Hope to see some pix of your efforts posted here.
Best

from Chicago. You should sign up for the Chicago Kilted group (right hand column of your profile). We use it as a list for PMs for Chicago events. There's the First Annual Chicago Kilt Run coming up this Sunday September 19th on the far Northwest side of Chicago (Norwood Park); and a kilt night on Saturday September 25th at 8pm at the Duke of Perth on Clark Street south of Belmont.

Hi, Redbeard, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
My moustache at one time had some red colouring, but that was about as close as I got. My brother has a red beard, but it has gone rather white of late.
Regards,
Mike
