Trade sgian dubh WIP
Hi all,
Well the first one didn't make the cut so it was back to the grinder.
Here is the rough. Since one of the comments of the last one was the need for file work on the spine so on this set I was putting some on. That is where the first one went wrong. Here is the 2nd one. I am using twisted rope on the section of the spine where there is normally has the notches.
Side view -

I always like the side view almost as much as the top -

Top. A little hard to see but also remember it is in the rough grind stage -

More to come as long as it survives.

Since it costs a fortune to fire up the kiln I normally try to do a couple at a time. This time it will be three. Here is #2 a raindrop damascus and I'm hoping the walrus ivory handle. This is a bit smoother than the one above with a quick etch to show the pattern in the steel.

I love Damascus steel, and that pattern is REALLY cool! I don't know if I've ever seen it's like before.

Very nice! What's your forging method?

Sorry, don't do any forging. The idea of working in front of a 2000F forge in the Texas sun doesn't thrill me. I just grind. This piece is Devin Thomas high contrast raindrop.
I also don't normally work with carbon but I got this with some other supplies from a friend.
