Hi, “Lenin”, and welcome to X Marks from the bottom end of Africa.
My father-in-law was a naval airman: a petty officer aircraft fitter in the Fleet Air Arm, part of the Royal Navy. During the Second World War he was sent to a new base being set up near Cape Town, which is how he met his wife and eventually settled at the Cape.
Before being sent down south, he spent two years at a naval air station outside Arbroath, in Scotland.
    Regards,
    Mike
