Have 3 kiltrolls and have used them occasionally. each came with a stiffening sheet to aid in rolling the kilt before bagging, which helps with packing. Good way to take a kilt as a carry on on a flight if you are only taking one. Have also used the stocking method for other bagged travel. Works too but only if you are putting the kilt in something else to carry, as stockings generally don't come with handles or shoulder straps. When travelling with more than one kilt I prefer to use some form of rolling garment bag and keep the kilts on hangers for the trip. My golf trip two months ago to scotland I took three kilts in a Skyroll carry on garment bag which rolled the kilts around a central tube which housed all my other kilt gear---hose, belts, sporrans, etc... Tight fit but worked great.

I always use a kilt roll that I got through Scotweb when I'm transporting the kilt, and it's served me well. You place the kilt on a somewhat stiff plastic sheet and roll it within this. The roll is then secured by two elastics on either end and placed in a bag with handle and detachable shoulder strap. Great as a carry on when flying! Oh, and the bag is also fairly water proof, so no big worries there.
