    Smile Half Way There

    My father "just" got back from an 11 day trip to Scotland (didn't take me - boohoo). One of the souvenir's he got while in Edinburgh is the following:

    Apron

    Pleats

    Label

    It is the Heritage Of Scotland tartan, PV, off-the-rack.

    The "Half Way There" title is because he is waiting for the rest of the stuff (hose, sporran etc) to arrive before wearing. Hopefully, when he visits over the holidays, I will have photos of the two of us kilted

    Oops, I forgot to mention that he is already mentioning that "when I get another kilt....". It will probably be Clergy tartan. Just has to decide which version to go with.

    Well now, that was rude of him!

    That is so cool Chris, I look forward to seeing the photos.

    Unfortunately my father won't wear a kilt...in fact he won't even join our clan society because he thinks he'll be forced to wear a kilt, and refuses to believe otherwise {sigh}

    Excellent. I also have one of those budget Heritage of Scotland kilts.
    They are a good introduction to kilts. Love them or loathe them, you have to admit Heritage of Scotland have introduced a lot more people to kilts. It is great that your father is sufficiently pleased with his souvenir that he would now follow this up with a bespoke kilt in Clergy tartan.

    Nice-looking kilt, Chris. Can’t wait to see the pics of you and your dad both kilted.
    The Clergy should be a good one, too.
    Regards,

    Chris, I have a kilt, MacDonald Modern, from the same company. I really like it but the material is very, very stiff. Is yours the same way? My other kilt from the same company, Scottish National, is very soft and more like a true PV kilt should be. Strange!!

    Yes, this fabric is somewhat course. I was somewhat surprised as I thought it would be softer.

    Well, last day of the visit and some of the stuff was just delivered by UPS from Celtic Croft, sporran (hunting style) and sgian dubh.

    I did forget to also mention that my wife is going to make a "quasi-kilt" for my granddaughter (she may be winging it as we haven't gotten Barb T's book yet). So there could be three of us in the photo!!!
