Sounds like a good idea to me. However, be prepared for a possible battle of resentment from the administration. I know we had a member here who had an uphill battle with his school administration over his wanting to wear his kilt to prom. I don't mean to discourage you in any way, my only intent is to make you aware of a possible situation before hand so that you can be prepared if questioned about it. I certainly hope it all works out well with your plans, I'm sure you'll look very sharp in your kilt.

    Thanks for the encouragement everyone!

@Standard, thank you for the warning! I was a little worried, and will check with the school to make sure. I did a quick google search on "kilted at prom" and a whole slew of "student denied right to wear kilt to prom" or "student suspended from school" came up. I'll make sure and check to avoid this.

Anymore thoughts on a Stillwater Heavyweight? Obviously it will not be a tank, but from what I've heard they can be dressed up to a farly formal level.

Prom kilted would be great, but check prom dress code

I echo everybody else's enthusiastic "go kilt"! But I also urge you, as Standard has, to immediately check with the principal of the school regarding a prom dress code. Many schools have them and they are, uh, [kindly put] often unbelievably narrow-minded if not downright straitjacketing. And, some administrations simply refuse out of hand to hear anything other than what they deem appropriate. Now, if you come from a progressive school district, it's great. If you don't, don't be surprised or take it personally if it's not possible to budge the school administrators. The folks who may refuse you your kilt are usually the ones not necessarily interested in ethnic awareness or any other sensible argument; they're unfortunately out for their own necks and to dissuade students from nonconformity of any sort. It's not your fault if you aren't allowed the kilt for prom.

'Nuff said. Go talk with the Powers that Be and let us know what you find out.
    Good Luck!
