Queen Victoria in pony cart w/ Highlander (John Brown?)

The following is actually two old film clips of Queen Victoria. The description is as follows:

The first sequence shows her in a carriage at Balmoral in 1896, surrounded by her grandson, later George V, and various other courtiers, including Indian dignitaries or perhaps household staff.

There is a partial glimpse of a Highlander leading the horse of the carriage - perhaps John Brown, the 'favorite' of her later years?

The second shows the queen riding down Pall Mall in a carriage with perhaps the later Queen Mary and Kings George V during her Jubilee Celebrations of 1897.

The only problem with this is that John Brown's death is given as 1883, which makes me wonder if the info for the first film clip was incorrect about the date, or if this is a different Highlander altogether?

Here, first, are three stills captured from the video (note another kilted Highlander in the background, you will see either him again or a 3rd kilted gentleman following the pony cart towards the end of the first film):

The figure leading the pony cart certainly conforms to known images of John Brown, but I can't say for certain that it is....it's an interesting piece of historical film & I'd be most interested in the thoughts of the rabble, or if anyone has more information about the origin of this film.

I should mention that in the first two stills the black-&-tan collie is thought to be Roy, one of Queen Victoria's many dogs. It's unclear who the tri-coloured collie in the background is.

Interesting film! But since John Brown died in 1883, it's pretty certain there are no motion pictures of him.

What I find curious though is how much that kilted gentleman leading the pony cart looks like John Brown, as seen in this photo (w/ some of Queen Victoria's dogs that I posted in the vintage kilt photo gallery, along with one of his brother William).

The resemblance is uncanny (& kind of spooky)!

The Highland servant could possibly be Hugh, John Brown's brother, who took his brother's position after his death.
Or maybe one of his relatives who was also employed at Balmoral
    Thanks for the video.

If the website below is correct, it cannot possibly be John Brown as he died 5 years earlier.

    Interesting article Trefor, thanks.

Rather a kinsman of Brown (who resembles him) or not, it is an interesting piece of film.
