Unfortnately the Director thought anything with pink (light red) wasn't manly enough. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!

What I'd like to see is the C18th pieces that the director rejected.
Is that possible Peter?

Artificer's reconstruction is pretty accurate. The mustard was actually an olive green produced with heather (y) and indigo (b).

I can certainly readily lay my hands on one. I'd prefer to publish it as a paper/article. I'll see if I can get it done this week.

It’s a great tartan, Peter. I’d love to see the article when it’s ready.

The Scottish Register of Tartans and the Scottish Tartans Authority both have this tartan listed as "Rob Roy (Film)", but with different colors. The tartan on the SRT's web site is gray, green, and a sort of magenta. The tartan on the STA's web site is gray, green, and a light brownish color. Going by the picture on this page, I'd say the third color is actually a chestnut color.

Love the film, and the tartan is simply beautiful. Well done on its design and construction.
Aye,
