Some great deals on 8 yard kilts
Hi all-
There is an eBay store that is offering closeout prices for bespoke 8 yarders from left over material. 222$ is a great price for a made-to order machine stitched kilt. Not a big tartan list, but it might be right for someone here on the forum.

This does look like a VERY good deal. Could you even buy the fabric that inexpensively?

Looks like this is an ebay outlet for Tartanweb, based on the seller info.

I agree, it's a fantastic deal. And it sounds like they're trying to get rid of old tartan material that they have laying around from previous orders. So they're probably not even charging for the material since it was already paid for on previous orders... or at least they're deeply discounting the material.
Man, I am SO tempted on this! A 16-ounce 8-yard Blackwatch kilt at that price would be a darn good hiking kilt in cold weather.

I noticed that they have "Kerr Modern". I would love to have a kilt made for my son. However, he is 12 years old and will probably outgrow it in a matter of months. Although, with 8 yards of material, maybe I could have two kilts made (one for now and one for when he out grows it) or I could have a kilted skirt made for my daughter from the extra material. Hmmm. Still, $224 for a made to measure kilt.

It IS tempting, but unfortunately there seems to be NO mention of the weight of the fabric. I would say that is a major consideration. 8 yards is one thing, but if it's in a 11 or 13 oz I would be far less tempted than if it were 16 or more.
As much as I love my new 13oz Thomson Camel, I don't think I want another that is such light weight...

I inquired about the weight of the fabric and the response was 16oz. They have since updated the Ancient MacDonald ClanRanald tartan to note the weight. I couldn't resist as this is the tartan I have always picked as the first wool kilt I would get. Always intended to go with Kathy Lare, but the deal is just too good. I will post photos when I get it.

This is a pretty good deal. As an FYI, the Blackwatch is 13oz when you read the listing.

All the listings I looked at were 13 oz fabrics So I do not know what to make of their responce that it is 16 oz.
