In my opinion, the purple looks great with Ron's IOS kilt. However, to my eye, purple would be a bit much with the Heritage of Scotland kilt. Different strokes for different folks!

Thanks Rabble. I checked the suggestions give and didn't find any that were purple. I will keep looking though. If worse comes to worse, I can always wear the white (and hope I am not banded from this site).

If you follow the link in my post, copied below, the purple hose are on the far right of the fourth row of photos. Here's a direct link to the picture of them:

They are available in the fully-fashioned variety, just use the drop-down menu to select "purple".

That being said, you don't have to wear purple hose just because your tartan is purple. Lovat blue or green would look fine...and perhaps better.

David; you are right. I did miss those, however they appear more plum than purple and my Scottish grandmother would have my hide if I paid $58.00 for a pair of socks.

Does your Scottish grandmother knit, by chance?

With Christmas coming up, you might consider dropping a few hints...

She probably also taught you to get the best value for your money, and these hose are the best value for your money. I remember the "sticker shock" on my first pair of store-boughten hose, but now that I've made several pairs of hose and socks and know how much work goes into them I'd gladly pay the price for the hose in the link.

There is no rule that says that your hose much match your kilt.

I advise my customers to stop thinking that just because you now wear a kilt that all your accessories must match the kilt. You wouldn't do that with trousers.

What I suggest is to coordinate your hose color with your shirt color.

Then let the kilt stand on its own. It is very capable of doing so.

This way you can have a variety of hose to go with the variety of shirts that are already in your closet.

Here is a picture of me in a Heritage of Scotland with a light purple dress shirt with black argyll waistcoat, a Jerry Garcia tie, and black hose (just got lovat blue and will try them in the near future). I wear a kilt everyday to work and the women at work (over 12,000 employees) across all plant sites tell me all the time how much they like this kilt and the overall look. There is a lot of purple, but it seems to be a hit.

'Thanks. I put black hose and new flashes on my wish list for Christmas. I will have to wear the white to our Christmas services, but hope to get the black for more casual wear.

Cygnus: She did, but she is deceased now.
Piperbh: I usually wear a white shirt or a light green with my Keith modern, and I don't think I will buy a purple shirt. That leaves me with likely wearing a white, or grey dress shirt. The previously mentioned black might be the best bet.
