I wear it because the colors are great (and I like Joni Mitchell)

If you like earthy colours then what about Stewart Hunting in Lochcarron's weathered shades? That's really cool
The Kilt is my delight !

I attended the annual Caledonia Club dinner last Friday evening. The guest speaker was Senator Libby Hubley, an Island girl with Scottish blood as well as a former Highland dancer and dance instructor. She informed us that she has presented a bill to have the Maple Leaf tartan made the Official Tartan of Canada. About time someone did....

I don't have a problem wearing them. They are fashion rather than true district tartans according to the Scottish Register which makes it all the easier, not that I need an excuse.
More on the Maple Leaf Tartan here. I'll get around to Maple Leaf someday. I've liked that one too, ever since I saw it worn by Alex from Hawick.
The Bro Leon, another Brittany Tartan, is also on my wish list (as worn here by Hamish).

X Markers L-R are - Chas (Macleod hunting modern), me (Johnstone Modern), Derek (St David's), Hamish (Bro-Leon)
Jolly good show John, I love Hamish's Leon, quite striking. I'll keep those tartans in mind when the coffers are a wee more full. As for the Maple leaf, some where me mum has about 12 yards double width that I was supposed to get for my birthday a year or two ago, but the old girl forgot where she put it (shes 82 and has LOTS of fabric). So I guess when I have to clean the house out after the parents are gone I'll keep my eyes pealed for it.

I already have a kilt in Hunting stewart (in fact I'm wearing it for the first time to work today!).
I'm going to get a new kilt but I'm really torn between the Maple leaf (and it's variants) and the cunningham modern.
They're really quite different and that makes the choice so much harder. Unfortunately I don't have enough money to buy both of them.

I just saw the Hunting stewart weathered. It's amazing. The problem is that they are so many amazing tartans and I can't afford to buy them all !
What about that Isle of Skye, too?
Decisions, decisions.
