    Actually, it does look like he has a narrow apron. I don't see a shadow to indicate a pleat right in the middle.

    Hey- they did a better job of rendering a historical garment than Braveheart did (period correctness not being an issue in either films, granted).

    An excuse to go to the movies kilted, at any rate.

    And I agree with Ryan: although I think the belted plaid looks a little too much like the outfit worn by a certain cartoon Viking, it's more historically correct than the outfit worn by a certain Australian-American actor and movie director in a certain historically questionable movie. If you're going to go historically questionable, you might as well go mythical.
