We ended up with about 16" but with the wind blowing so hard still, it's hard to tell. And still bitter cold - down to 10F tonight they say. Hard to picture myself kilted in this kind of weather. I did wear it Christmas eve as I always do.

That beast is on the Cumbre and Toltec Railroad which is a narrow gauge tourist railroad in southern CO, northern NM. It is a great ride during the summer when open.

I am glad to hear that - for the most part, the weather has not caused too many problems - cue Bing Crosby 'let it snow let it snow let it snow'.

Interesting bit of railway kit there - I found the 'wish you a merry Christmas' lyrics used in the clip rather bemusing - then I realized that the original is often misheard as containing the work 'king' - it is actually 'kin' - but king would not do for the US.

It only works with a way of speaking which drops the final g in words ending in 'ing'

    Good tidings we bring
    To you and your kin

looks as though it doesn't rhyme. It does in Yorkshire.

I just heard that the prediction for round 2 of snow here in my neck of the woods this Thursday...though the call (right now) is only for a couple of inches this time.
    We'll see...

Nothing but clear sky's and bare ground here in Fort Colins. We use to live in Alfred ME and having 3 to 4 feet of snow in our driveway was not that unusual. Had to call a contractor friend over with his big front end loader to dig us out. Several times we were without power for several days- to a week. Without power the well pump wouldn't work so we had to ski over to the local fire station to take showers.

For a while it was an exciting way to live, but after 15 years it got pretty old so we mover west.
