Case in point - I just found this thread tonight.
I want to make it, but I need to double-check things with work and dog-sitting first.

It's unlikely I'll be able to go that night. Hope everything works out!

So the real question is this: Should we stop having the Burns Night Supper? Or do we want for this to become the best of them all so that we can do something really great in the years to come?
If we're going to cancel this, we need to make a decision very soon. So please, it would nice if all the SOKS would weigh in.
I'll be there and I'll bring my pipes if you guys still want me too.

Dear friends,
I wish you well on your supper. St. Andrew's Lodge will be having our 89th annual Burns' Supper on the 26th of Jan. to which you are all invited! $25 per person...very formal, traditional in its form.
While we're on the subject of Burns, when we were at the Scottish Rite a few years ago, one of you fine lads offered a beautiful toast to the lassies...do any of you still have a copy? It was the one with the pregnant pauses. Anyone have such a poem in their archives?
Also note, the round room at the Rite seats 80, if future planning would consider such.
Take care,
KJB

Not sure if I can make that one. Are the lassies invited? Or is this open only to Brethren?

This is an update on what is going on with our Burns Supper. We will not have a band playing this year but the flip side is we will have cheaper tickets. The tickets are $40 individual or for a couple, $75 .

We have unfortunately had to cancel the SOKS Burns night, even after lowering the price we were only able to sell one ticket, that money has been refunded. We are both very disappointed however it had to finally come to this.

I'm really sorry to hear that Glen! I was really looking forward to it and was planning on piping the whole night! I have to say that I was totally shocked by the fact that someone chose this thread to advertise their own Burns night, NOT COOL! You and Catherine put a lot of work into this. I guess it goes to show that local Burns nighters want it at a small venue and are not prepaired to shell out much cash, at least not $65. I'm willing to work/help on putting a last minute one together with you guys if you like? Something like last years? Here in the Annex in Toronto there are a number of pubs that may be willing to accomodate. I could also ask about the 48th Highlanders Pipers mess at Moss Park Armoury (Don't know why I didnt think of that before!) It has a stove and a full bar!
Anyway
I'll help out in anyway I can.
I hope that my supportive attitude rubbs off on some of the locals!!
