New Pictures!
Here you go, everyone-the first ever pictures of Biblemonkey in a kilt! These are from Warrior Dash 2010 and this Christmas. Thankfully I've put on a little muscle since the Warrior Dash . Note the custom sporran as designed by Nighthawk and myself and handstitched by Nighthawk.

Cool! Can you tell us more about the Warrier Dash? Does it involve icy cold water? Were there others kilted? I think I see at least one more in the group photo.

Warrior dash is a 3.25 mile obstacle course race that has different obstacles depending on the location of the venue in your area. The ones that are common to all seem to be the mud crawl under barbed wire and the jump through fire. By the time we got to the fire jump, the flames were up pretty high. We had just gotten soaked during he previous obstacle and it was a strange feeling to have flames slapping your legs and not get burned. Not that I wanted the burn, mind you, it's just weird. There were many kilts to be seen and even more costumes and nuts of all kind. You should have seen the guy dressed as Indiana Jones jump the fire. And the guy who had to do the whole thing on crutches because of a recent injury was hardcore!
Warror dash.com is were you can find all of the info for this coming year.

That sporran looks really nice with the tartan you're wearing! Glad your to hear (from an email) that it was a hit with the family!
Hope you don't mind, but I "borrowed" one if those pictures for my FaceBook portfolio.

No prob. If it's one with my grandma or wife just try to trim them out of it. Don't know that they want their pictures floating around too much. They're odd like that sometimes.

This looks like a lot of fun!!! I'm not a runner, but would be tempted to give this a try.
In looking through the site, I noticed that they actually sell a "Warrior Kilt" in the warrior gear section. 50/50 cotton/polyester, one size fits all, and $25. May be worth it just so you don't wreck a perfectly good kilt!

Yeah, we went that route. It works for what you'd be doing but it is not something you would ever wear again for any reason other than warrior dash. It is basically a tie on apron. If you feel like springing for it try a bottom of the line model Sport Kilt. They clean up well afterward and you can still use it for working out or hiking. Just remember that if you are in between sizes and plan on using it for hardcore stuff like backpacking and Warrior Dash go with the lower size. They have a little give in the elastic waist band.
