Congratulations on 22 years of marriage.
Now to complicate that other mater, 17 years ago when I got married (My wife was Roman and I am Anglican) we were married in a Roman Catholic church with no Mass and I wore my PC and Kilt. I was the only one kilted, other than the piper. So I would say that the formal wear is right for the sacrament, although that goes against most formal wear conventions as many weddings, mine included occur during daytime hours.
