I can't remember where Mr. Scott said his hooch came from...but it was often green. In the TNG episode "Relics" he hijacks a bottle of Aldeberan Whiskey, which seemed to do the trick for him. When he asked Data what it was. he replied "It is...it is...it is green." This was a tip of the hat to a line Jimmy Doohan had in TOS, though I can't recall the episode. I want to say Wolf In The Fold, but I don't think that's it.
I'm contemplating printing out a label like the one in the ad and slapping it on a bottle of Glenlivet or Johnny Walker Black...just for kicks!
Well the real Scotty WAS Irish, was he not? At least the name suggests that.. a little hidden humour there with the green reference.
Anyway, when I was a wee lad myself, they couldn't say "beer" in an ad so they used the word "cheer" in TV jingles and so on:
"Dow [a dead brand] brings out the best in cheer.... any time good friends are near, bring out the best in cheer!" It was dead silly.
