While there are certainly many trite Zen sayings that one could plug the word "kilt" into, I think the OP's is particularly apt.

The first time I wore a kilt was to my junior high prom and I borrowed everything. I had no idea about different types of kilts and accoutrements, so I just strapped on what I was given and headed out.

Many years later, I found this site and proceeded to have my mind blown about all the many wondrous variations of kilting. From modern to historical and the plethora of details to learn in the realm of the THCD, the kilt has become so much more to me: tradition, identity, style, dress codes, innovation...

I hope someday to reach an Enlightened level of kilting where I can once again just grab some clothes out of my closet and go. At that point though, I would be armed with a ton of knowledge and experience and the result would be... ?

I'm not there yet, but I'll let y'all know if I ever arrive! Then again, those who think they are Enlightened usually aren't.
