I am very impressed. I feel proud when I successfully sew a button back on my BDUs, I can't even imagine sewing an entire kilt!
Can't wait to see the final product.

OK, so we had a snow day today! Perfect time to finish this kilt so I can wear it tonight to the first meeting of my anatomy class.
Apron edge fringed and sewn down. Waist band pinned in place.

First edge of the waist band stitched down...ready for the next line of stitching. Finally getting that ugly canvas job covered up!

Have I mentioned that I had never sewn more than a button or patch before Alan H and the X-Kilt manual came out? After several X-kilts came some X-kilt variants of my own design, and then I got TAOK and tackled a full-on tank. This MacDonald will be the 8th wool kilt I've made. It still takes 30+ hours!

The mind reels at the potential meaning of this statement.

Well, I managed to finish this puppy about 15 minutes before I had to leave for school. Here are the final pix.
Lining going in.

Lining done.

All pressed!

Removing the basting stitches.

And here is the finished kilt as I'm heading to class in my filthy road-salt-encrusted truck.

Nice job on the kilt. And you're looking rather well put-together yourself. Cheers.
