And I heard on the TV today that Colin Firth is planning to show up for the awards in a kilt. His actual quote was "It doesn't take much to get me into a kilt" if I remember correctly.
I wonder what tartan? (said with the critical gaze and raised eyebrow of one born to the cognoscenti...)
And if this is true, despite the Kerry mis-step, we may have a new celebrity to fawn over.

Looks like I picked just the right time to join this forum. I don't even know what a cognoscenti is, but I'm just glad to be a part ...or am I furious about it?

Over the weekend, I had a fellow movie buff friend ask me if I'd seen the film, (I have not, I'm waiting for it to come to the Drafthouse) just so he could ask me about the kilt! He's not a kilt wearer, but we'd discussed and looked at some of the royal families' tartans after seeing "The Queen". My friend wondered which one was in "The Kings Speech", and he found the whole Irish tartan thing quite funny.

Alan, when aren't you furious?
It's nice to see the site get some press. The journalist got things a wee bit out of proportion to my eye, but such is life.

I've decided I'm not furious at the tartan, only mildly peeved.
I am however outraged, furious, seething, boiling and, yes, enraged that the media has not taken me up on my offer to be cognoscent for a fee.

I saw it. I thought it was an okay film. I don't get all the hype about it being OSCAR worthy, though. Colin Firth was asked by one of the TV entertainment shows if he was going to wear a kilt at the OSCAR ceremony (like Mel Gibson and Liam Neesen did in 1996) and he said, it would certainly be ok if he did because the kilt is so "liberating".

That certainly would have averted the Braveheart issues.

Since I haven't posted anything in the thread referenced above, am I a noncognoscento?
