I don't mean to be dismissive of the original poster, but I'm curious as to when someone would use this?

I often carry more than my sporran can carry (keys, wallet, phone, etc). But I'm almost always wearing a jacket, and place items in there. Would this be used instead of a sporran? Or with a sporran? The items mentioned seem to carry less than a sporran, so perhaps carry a bigger sporran?

I also agree that if I see anybody reaching underneath a jacket into a leather holster, I get a bit anxious. This would happen even in places that firearms are illegal. I would hate to be the guy reaching for his wallet in a leather shoulder holster near an overly anxious beat cop fresh out of the academy. At least here in the states, it seems like that could lead to trouble.

It took me a little while to come up with a reply but here goes anyway, I fancy it not to replace my sporran which is usually my SWK cargo sporran but more of an extra, someplace to have my phone or wallet instead of my sporran or for the situations when I dont have a sporran on.

It was only an idea I don't like having things attached to my belt while I'm wearing my kilt and I thought something like this could be used for a little extra storage.

Reaching into your jacket for gear in a "tech holster" would look no more out of place than anyone reaching into your jacket pocket for your wallet/keys, etc. Most folks don't pay any attention when you ARE carrying (but concealed carry when kilted is another thread, I'm sure.)

For the most formal affairs, I'm in a bit of a pinch for cargo space--my antique hair sporran holds maybe a couple credit cards. And tucking the rest of my gear into my Montrose doublet pockets bulges out all over.

That means I pare everything down to my driver's license, a couple cards, my Boy Scout knife, and my car key fob. Rest goes in my wife's purse!

But my regular sporrans suit my kit fine. If more cargo space is needed, I have a variety of leather surplus pouches that fit the belts well.
