X, as you were the only one to answer, you win

Here's something that shouldn't be too difficult.

Nice one, Peter! First time I've seen a photo of the original piece.

Although it reminds me of the Buchanan and MacMillan Old tartans I can't help looking at it and wondering if the yellow wasn't once green and the salmon pink wasn't once red. I see the herringbone selvedge. I like it. It looks like it has been carefully hemmed in the last picture and a loop sewn in at one of the corners. Makes me think it wants a hook on an adjacent corner.

Yellow? X I think your monitor needs adjusting. Loop, what loop?

In the last picture there is what appears to be a loop of reddish thread.

I do believe it looks more like an embroidered letter though. (someone's initials?) I.C.?

Anyhow not having done alot of research into old tartan fragments I cannot identify at the moment.

and the tartan looks awfully yellow to me as well.

Looks yellow to me too. I'm guessing the camera didn't pick up the colors very accurately, since all our monitors seem to be showing it the same.

Yes, you're right about the initials. The yellow is definitely green,
