Kiltmaker's Input Requested, & Who Wants Cthulu Tartan Yardage?

I just tried to navigate the customs.org website but finally surrendered. Looks like textiles have a $250 limit before they become "reportable" so this shipment would certainly exceed that amount unless we all do our own deliveries. But since this is for non-commercial use we may be able to sneak out that way. I'd imagine the manufacturer would be able to assist as they must ship to US businesses. It might be easier to arrange for a US kiltmaker to receive and make the kilts, then they can deal with the importation paperwork.

But ultimately even a 60-70 yard shipment is SMALL potatoes in the world of textiles, they are used to dealing in kilometers of fabric, so I gotta think this is no big deal in the grand scheme of things.

Unfortunately, 'breaking' and reposting shipments is time consuming, and I imagine most people who aren't directly interested wouldn't want the hassle of doing it (and would most likely charge for their time and labour). IF someone was interested in making 20-30 kilts (assuming that's whom everyone wanted to make their kilts) they might consider it, but I'm fairly sure everyone has a kilt maker already in mind already.

As to the customs and the order being small potatoes, I'd much rather cover our bases and go in assuming we're going to get hit, so nobody is shocked when the fees are assessed.

Too true, and I don't think we want THAT, plus, since most of the interested parties are in the US, the individual postage costs would add up quite quickly vs US 'breaking and reposting'.

I tried dancing through the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Good News Might be zero tariff, bad news it is more likely to be 68.5% of appraised value

For the record, those of us who are not in the UK may input the £ sign thusly:

PC: Hold down the ALT key and type: 0163 using the numeric keypad. £ (Some computers may be ALT+156)
Mac: Hold down the OPTION key and press the "3" key.
Linux: You should already know how to do this, you hacker, you. heh

Thanks for that! On my PC both 0163 and 156 give that symbol.

Now the question is, what key combination gives us the Cthulhu symbol?
