    Jackets for Conversion

There have been many threads about converting sport jackets to kilt jackets. Most of them are talking about using Various Tweed jackets found for a bargain. I have recently even heard someone suggest using corduroy as well.
I am pretty fond of camel hair jackets and being that i find them more often in my area, I was wondering if anyone has done a conversion to a camel hair jacket, and how did it work out for you.

Well, not a conversion, but I briefly met a gentleman at a SAS dinner who was wearing a bespoke camel hair Braemar jacket and it looked like a million bucks with his kilt. I'd say find a camel hair jacket with patch pockets and go for it.

Oh god.. Another jacket idea... My bank account can't afford this..

In other words, this sounds awesome. Anybody have any pics of a camel hair kilt jacket?

I was going to say - patch pockets on a camel hair?? but found one on eBay. Item 300523815070 if you're a size 40. There's a tempting 38 (item 270704331497) without patch pockets, but a lovely pattern.

The problem with 99% of jacket conversions is that the pockets end up being way too low. With a patch pocket jacket it is a relatively simple matter to raise the pockets and restore the balanced look of the jacket.

A problem. Another being the single vent in the back. But spot on, MoR.
