Welcome from a little bit west, Warren, Ohio.
My first experince with the pipes was similar. We had a family friend who played in the Cleveland Memorial Pies and Drums. Went to visit him one day. Got out of the car and... that sound... all I knew was whatever could make as sound like that, I wanted to play it. Thus began my experience with the Great Highland Bagpipe. That was about thirty years ago.
And USA Kilts? Save you shekels and jump right into one of their "traditional" wool kilts. It's a little spendy, but well worth it for quality garment that will both look (very) good and last. They made a kilt for me last year and I love it.
I wish I believed in reincarnation. Where's Charles Martel when you need him?

Might be a bad thing for you but it probably won't be a bad thing for Rocky
Welcome from Lancashire England.
When your love of the pipes gets too over-bearing, here's another link for you.

(Oh I am a bad man... sorry. My beginners set are McCallum's Poly P1's and I absolutely love 'em... my neighbours on the other hand. )
