So far this week I've seen several guys running around in shorts...one in shorts and flip-flops...this is in Chciago...okay...the temperature did rise above freezing but come on!
So these free spirits will prance through the supermarket without a comment but wear a kilt and you'll get the business AND the third degree from half a dozen people..."Oh...is it some kind of holiday?" "Aren't you cold?"

If you are looking for another excuse to wear your kilt, just search for kilt wearers calender here on the forum. It was posted by P1M a while back and comes up with about two thirds of the year covered with reasons.

Kilt wearing opportunities
To Church
To the pub
To a party
Walk in the park
Hike in the hills
Anywhere social you'd wear a suit and tie - if you've a jacket to go with your kilt. You'll have more fun than anyone else in the room, most of the time.
Get the idea?
You're in Scotland, remember? Maybe stand where tourist buses park and just get your photo taken - for cash.

That's been my main excuse for kilt-wearing lately. Not a whole lot of opportunities to get dressed up in traditional fashion, but I never need an excuse to kilt up and go hiking.
The freedom and comfort of wearing a kilt, coupled with getting outside and exercising to enjoy the beauty of nature... that's almost as good as it gets!
(Of course, I live in a more moderate climate than many of you.)

I wear mine most weekends and always to church.
August 1, commemorating the proscription of wearing of tartans in 1746
July 1, commemorating the lifting of the proscription in 1782
November 30, St. Andrew's Day
On St. Patrick's Day I wear either my Irish National tartan or solid Saffron kilt. In Chicago when I'm wearing a kilt, most folks think I'm Irish because they see kilts in the St. Patrick's Day parade.
