I'd like to suggest an idea to the rest of us looking to buy into this order - given the effort that Artificer is going to, and the fact that he'll be doing the legwork and dealing with the mill, I don't think he should have to fund his own purchase. I would like to know if the others in the buy would be happy to have the cost of Artificer's order divided up and added to our totals as a thank you for his time and effort?
    Make that 4.

I want to know how much he is ordering first! . . . . (I know he is posted for 3 - I'm joking here)

Sure, I'd help. To a point.

Works for me. I'll chip in for his 3 yards. So long as he doesn't live in Tahiti or someplace expensive to ship he doesn't live on the plateau of leng does he?

Great to see the brotherhood stepping up

He only put himself down for 3 yards, and at approx GBP20 per yard it'll be about 80 pounds (??) shipped. At the moment we're up to 15 buyers, so we'll only be paying about GBP5 each - a small price to pay for his efforts and to show our gratitude!
For those who understand, no explanation is necessary; for those who don't, none is possible.

I'm happy to help chip in on Artificer's order... However, I would also like to point out one little detail. IF we want this tartan to be officially registered.... Registration is not free. If we should all be chipping in on anything, the first priority should be to help defray the costs of registration with the Scottish Register of Tartans. http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/

For Artificer's (in)sanity, (as he requested a few pages back), I'm moving this (cross-posting this message) to the discussion forum located in our new social group here: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/g...ulhu-cultists/ Let's continue talking about this over there and keep this thread open for order and yardage confirmations...

Unfortunately, international commerce, especially where it's related to design, can take some time.

I ordered yarn samples on Monday, hopefully we'll have them within week. If we're doing this, I want to make sure we do it right and not leave the colour selection of a fairly non-traditional tartan in the hands of others.

I'm also waiting to hear back about individualized billing for shipping.

To help ease the Jones, might I recommend....

    - watching one of the videos posted in the other Cthulhu thread? http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-fhtagn-64014/

    - posting something in the social group

    - watching the movie version of the Call of Cthulhu

    - visiting the H.P. Lovecraft society website: http://www.cthulhulives.org/

And if all that fails, fill out a Certificate of Insanity for yourself: http://www.cthulhulives.org/toybox/P...pInsanity.html

(Be sure to use good, quality certificate grade paper)...

With my wife doing a lot of color matching in her work I can understand the caution here. Especially in the digital age. One monitor it looks like purple and on another it looks grey.

I WANT INSTANT GRATIFICATION as much as the next man but I more than stand behind doing it cautiously.

Though I am curious on what the proceedure is on this. Should we do a new thread or Group Post of a DIY - Kilt for concept to wearing?
