    Glengarry Hat

    Hello,

On October 28, 2010 I ordered from Scotweb a Glengarry hat. It was rather expensive, 73 GBP plus 10 GBP shipping, in USD that's about $134 total. It was shipped November 26, 2010 and in due course I recieved the hat. Last Sunday, February 20, 2011, I noticed the red pom pom had fallen off somewhere. I am told today, by email, that Scotweb is unable to do anything about this. This strikes me as a clear breach of warranty, and given the price of the hat, pretty substandard customer service. I have, by the way, in the last 3 or 4 months, spent 1011.86 GBP ($1643.99 USD) with Scotweb and I would have expected better warranty service. When the kilt came it was about 2" too large. In fairness this may have been from faulty measuring on my part, nevertheless when I called Scotweb I was told they didn't do alterations and I was advised to contact a local tailor, which I did. The long and short is my likelyhood of buying in Scotland in the future is low.

    Regards,

    Leonard Tinker

That's an awful lot of money to spend with one company and a very expensive hat in my opinion. I would expect a little more return loyalty too if I'd spent that much money with them and it had taken them 4 months to send me defective gear... Not good!

Seems to be a common thing to have poor quality merchandise coming from Scotweb...

In fairness it didn't take 4 months, I ordered the hat October 28, 2010 and it was shipped November 26, 2010. I probably received it 2 or 3 weeks later.

Are you not getting confused between Scotweb and Tartanweb? they are completely different companies?

Personally I dont think you can complain if it fell off if you have had it for 4 months, sure if it was just after you got it fine but I think thats pushing it.
Its easy enough to make another toorie anyway or you could keep your glengary without one.

I hear what your saying Jordan but this isn't a 14.99 ebay jobbie. It's 70+ quids-worth. If I paid £70 for a hat, I wouldn't expect bits to drop off it within a matter of weeks. Still not good enough.

    Hello,

In any case I haven't had the hat four months anyway. It was shipped from Scotweb November 26, 2010 and I recieved it about December 15, 2010. Therefore I had it about two months when the pom pom fell off. It strikes me as a valid warranty issue. Given the unwillingness on Scotweb's part to deal with the kilt that fit badly it also strikes me as poor customer service.

    Regards,

    Leonard (MacGregor) Tinker

That is unfortunate and I don't wish to be mean here and assuming that the pom pom has not gone astray, has no one got a needle and thread in your part of the world?
