I agree with Jock. Not everyone wants to wear something that says "Hey, look at me -- I'm a member of so-and-so!" I prefer more subtle ways to show my membership in an organization, and a club tie is one way to do so. In the same vein, saying that anyone is free to declare their tie the club tie smacks too much of sartorial anarchy for this traditionalist, who loves his collection of club and striped ties -- I guess we in the Midwest are not as sophisticated in our desire to not be part of the inner circle.

Perhaps, then, a club tie for the "Auld Crabbits"? Surely we can come up with something that looks nice in a quick and agreeable manner? If interested, please PM me. I can see what the minimum order is. Hmmm....perhaps brown for being a stick in the mud, white for the dreaded kilt hose, etc....

I have a good friend at Ben Silver's who could help us Auld Crabbits...

Ooh, brown and white... perfect match for my cowhide sporran!
(need to be random blotches, though, not stripes!)

Sandy, I am a big fan of Ben Silver ties. Please inquire with your friend.

I'm a bit saddened by this decision; I was rather looking forward to adding an "official" XMarks tie to my wardrobe. Not to accompany my XMarks kilt -- which I don't have -- but to be worn at will with the others. So I'm with you, Sandy, and will share in your "unofficial" version.

Asser 1 recently worked with Beau Ties in Vermont for another special order club tie. They might be an alternative.

Please understand that my last was only a suggestion. It was in no way a firm (or arbitrary) decision. Just offering a suggestion to get us out of this quagmire.
I am still awaiting a quote from Beau Ties.

I spend so much time here, I might as well commit to buying a tie (which I prefer to a shirt anyway). I liked Alan H's find...reminds me of the first school tie I wore. Back then, some students were still in the last throes of thumb-sucking, I preferred to chew on my tie... I'd come home with half my tie gone.
