    Wow! Very impressive gents.

EB, I IMMEDIATELY recognized your "gimmick" Latin pin. I believe you have it as #13. That was the unit logo (the phrase anyway) of my first duty station in the navy! Awesome. Seeing that just made my day. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info EB. I do have a replica one for wearing when I'm likely to be dancing or going to a crowed pub. I tend to wear my fathers/uncles ones when going out to quieter places eg reataurant. I can assure you that along with their medals and service records they are some of my most treasured possessions.

This is a Kwakiutl sun, which now resides permanently on my British Columbia Provincial Tartan kilt.

I'm someone who hasn't worn a kilt pin in years.

It's being around pipe bands, and seeing all the 20 or 30 year old band kilts with tears and rips in them. In a band's pile of old kilts, the undamaged one is the exception. It sobers one to the realities of long-term hard-use kilt pin wearing.

But back in the 80s, when I did wear a kilt pin, I had this one custom made, and I still have it. I was looking for a nice Celtic Cross pin and at that time nobody seemed to make what I was after. I saw this lovely sterling pendant by Ortak (or Carrick) and they agreed to make one up with a pin back.

Also from that time I have another kilt pin, sterling, a sgian dubh with a real cairngorm at the top. It's rather small and delicate and lovely.

    Thumbs up

    Excellent photos all !

Those who know me are well aware I am more “kilt brooch” than kilt pin oriented..

I wear these in the middle section of my apron. Like thus:

To my Wife's chagrin I have become a bit of a kilt pin collector, more in number than kilts, although I suppose that is an excuse for buying more kilts so I have one pin per kilt for the reasons described above.

My gold tone collection. I also have a climbing panther somewhere like one shown earlier in this thread.

    Silvertone and pewter collection

    Silver collection

Three gold hunting horns, part of my family crest

Some miracle pins with various colored stones

Horn pins for more earthy colored kilts like my Braveheart movie kilt

    My son's kilt pin.

I do move my pins around from kilt to kilt depending on what other matching metals I am wearing, but do also some matchy matchy things like the blue stone Miracle pin on my Ancient Douglas, the goldtone with green or yellow stones on my Forrester Hunting, the three gold horns on my Forrester Modern, the purple thistle on my IOS, the two maple leaves on my Maple Leaf, and a few other favorites which seem to work well together. Most are off ebay, a few from vendors at games and fairs, a few from estate or vintage sales, and occasionally from a kilt store in a town I am visiting. Always on the lookout for an interesting pin. I know I have a few more but am having trouble locating them. If I find any remaining interesting ones I will repost them.
