Rex and Scott, Congratulations to the both of you. That beaten cantle is something, from my experience, unique to Scott. From the photos Rex, I can see that it easily becomes a heirloom. Well commissioned and crafted gentlemen

Red Fox Aporran
I wantd to let everybody see how the new sporran looks. I brought the cantle back from Scotland a couple of years ago waiting for the right piece of finish. The brass matches my brass buckle perfectly. I installed an old USMC globe & anchor on the buckle some time ago. Semper Fi y'all

I am a craftsman, furniture builder and maker of 17th & 18th rifles. I can look at a piece of art or craft and see the detail and talent the artist had in his/her hands as they worked. This sporran falls into the catagory of Museum quality. Thank you Scott.

Many congratulations to you on your new sporran, as well as on your good taste in materials and craftsmen!
...and right you are about Scott's craftsmanship. He does one heck of a clean job!

Thanks guys!
A few small things- check out the Axis Deer pelt I picked up via Drac, it's a beauty!

Detail

Also introducing my next project, which is just beginning. It's not involved enough to warrant it's own thread, but I think it's interesting enough for some light documentation.
Our own davidlpope contacted me a while back regarding a brass cantled sporran he owns that needed some rework.

Job specs include changing the latch mechanism from a rather awkward screw in type to a spring release, bag to be built of angora goat (supplied by David), backed with white leather (also supplied by David). Tassels will be black angora.
So far I've removed the screw mechanism and am testing out pinking patterns for the leather trim (which will be a true red, not the tomato red shown here).

Now that is one splendid cantle and the angora goat hair with the red leather trim will look amazing. Look forward to seeing the completed job

Just been admiring this deer pelt on FB. The fox pelt and the mohair also look great.
