Kilt in need of new straps

    Okay All,

I just scored a new (to me) kilt off ebay in 14 oz wool, or at least I think it is, and the straps need to be replaced. Any suggestions on where I'd find some quality straps and not the glut of cheap pseudo-leather that seems to be available? Granted, it's not a high quality kilt, but it's be great for hitting the pubs, etc. and I'd just like some good fasteners.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Bit of a hobby-horse of mine. If you are going to change the straps - change the buckles at the same time. So many really good kilts are let down by having cheap, stamped steel buckles fitted. A good pair (or three) of cast buckles, will out last the kilt and do no damage to the straps. Cheap buckles just tear the straps to pieces.

    Regards

    Chas

Hence the need for new straps. I do plan on changing out all fastening hardware on the kilt.
