Burnett's & Struth Crawford Modern kilt arrived

I ordered a Crawford Modern 4-yard Heavy Weight Casual kilt from Brandon on January 15, and it arrived today with no problems... early!

Unpacking photos:

I was a little concerned that it may have slid to one end and bunched up, but it wasn't too bad.

Here's the machine-basting, and you can also see the 'cheating the sett', as there isn't enough length in 4 yards to pleat either to stripe or to sett.

After a snip with scissors, the basting pulled right out, then I just needed to police up all the loose bits of thread in the pleats.

Then I threw it on and had my lady snap a picture (Kumiko had to get into the picture too, and wasn't a bit fazed by anything new.)

This is the Harris tweed jacket I hope to get converted; though as it's a 44Short, I'd like to think it's not too bad as is. But so many other things are amiss, sporran too low, belt buckle and front apron not centred, grotty shoes, garters too tight...etc., etc. More work ahead.

But if the much beloved bird remains on a shoulder, I fear that you would soon have something the shape of a "fly plaid" on your jacket.

Oh yes, though he is pretty good about warning us when he needs to 'go', we aren't always quick enough to realize it.

But living with parrots for years leaves one pretty philosophical about "__it happens" and baby wipes work really well for cleanup.

But I can't let him near the shoulders of my Argyle jacket, he loves removing buttons, and the epaulets are just too much of a temptation.

Hi, Dale, and congratulations on your handsome kilt.
Now all you need to do is wait for your friend Kumiko to shed a tail feather, and you can wear it in your bonnet!
Kumiko sounds Japanese to my ears, but he/she is definitely African.
