The Texas Convenor for our clan society has participated in a ceremony honouring the Scottish defenders of the Alamo, including our own David P. Cummings:

In the words of General Houston, himself of Scottish ancestry (and a lover of Burns' poetry), "Now's the Day and Now's the Hour!"
I wonder where he got that from?

Indeed they were. I'm hoping to visit the Alamo (and maybe Goliad) this Summer when we're down visiting family.

The SA Scottish Society in March does a ceremony at the Alamo and a dedication in April in memory of the Scots who perished there. Very moving.

And, the Alamo Society, run by Bill Chemerka, also meets near the Alamo each year the same weekend. (I can't attend this year.)

We've attended the Tartan Day commemoration at the Alamo (which occurs the Friday evening before the San Antonio Highland Games commence — April 1, this year) the last couple of years and are planning to be there again this year. It's a small ceremony, but nicely done.
