Oh I forgot to ask earlier.... What is a Kaber Kilt? We have a garment that is tiered and like a cape. Is it to be worn over one shoulder?

Uncle Bill sounds like a pretty cool guy. I have a glass on my hand right now and I toast one for your family. So, from Colorado - "Cheers! To Uncle Bill!"

Warm welcome from the land og the Vikings, Norway.
I think Jeff has a point here. I'm not an expert on clans, but I'm sure you have a wee drop of Norwegian blood in you, and many Scottish clans are very proud of their viking descent.

Where would you all prefer to me to post my pictures of the kilts? I know this is for newbies and I saw a kilt board..... You tell me where to put the pictures as I am going to take them this afternoon. I will try to get a close-up on the actual pattern and also each kilt so you can see the design of the kilt and let us know if it is for a special event or daily wear. I will check here before I post the pictures. Thanks for your help.

An added piece of information is we are related to the family name of Matches from the Orkney Islands as well. Greg's Great-Grandfather was a Matches. We also know that the name Norquay originated in the Orkney Islands and we think it was originally spelled Norquoy. Thanks again for all the info and such a warm welcome

    Michelle

from Just North of Ann Arbor.

Sorry to hear of your families recent loss. It is unfortunate than due to the suddenness of his passing that Uncle Bob did not record the history he had uncovered. However this gives you the opportunity to enjoy the discoveries just as he did. And the to the gift of the kilts....priceless.
