-------and the where he carries his pi----- er holster so far back on his hip it would hinder the swing of his pleats.

By the way John Wayne is buried very near here, in Pacific View Cemetery.

I pipe funerals at that cemetery regularly and see his marker often.

It's on a lovey hillside with a wonderful view of the Pacific ocean. On clear days Catalina Island is clearly visible.

Interesting that it says only "John Wayne" with no mention of his real name.

Marion Robert Morrison may be buried in California, but my ancestral home of Iowa claims his birthplace:

    http://www.johnwaynebirthplace.org/

It's located just off of I-35, about an hour south of Des Moines, in Winterset, where some guy named Clint Eastwood made a movie. My folks visited there this past summer, and said it was very well done.

Tonight's the Night to defend our trophy. Last year we won 'the Quiet Man Quiz' in Coatbridge so here we go again to test our knowledge on the trivia from this great film.
Every year in Coatbridge, there is an Irish Festival running for 2 weeks and 'the Quiet Man' quiz is an integral part of it along with a Father Ted Night.
Two years ago the guest and patron of the festival was Jack Charlton, former Republic of Ireland national football team manager and England World Cup winner of 1966, I met him and what a friendly chap he was indeed.
No idea who is the patron this year but may find out tonight.

The festival also encompasses various forms of culture from Irish dancing, music, drama and tutorials on the Irish diaspora.

Unfortunately, we in Scotland have not yet reached the stage of being kilted at an Irish occasion in our own land, strange, but St. Patrick's Day and celebrations are mostly a catholic phenomena here.
If wore my kilt tonight in Coatbridge(just 10 miles from Glasgow) I would probably be carted away somewhere and locked up.
To go into the politics and religious connotations of this would take from now until doomsday
