Thanks for the thoughts and prayers, everyone. I finally got to bed just after 3am last night, but it was a quiet night -- or at least aftershocks didn't wake me... Kofu can be a very windy city and we had some wicked gusts throughout the night... Gusts that shake the house at least as much as some aftershocks, so if there were any they were covered up by the wind...

Canuck: Japan is most certainly accepting international aid, as they have teams from many different countries up north and on the ground, including the US, Mexico, China, Sourth Korea... http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?se...les&id=8015279

    CDNsushi,
I am so glad to hear that you are ok. It would seem I came home at a good time... Well Hokkaido isn't really very much affected but that is beside the point. I have been going into damage control at the moment as I am supposed to go back on the 5th of April for my wedding in Toyama and the Australian Govt is saying to avoid travel...

Again it is good to hear that you are fine and hopefully things settle down.

On a side note, my fiancée said that it feels like it is happening to a different country. Being in the west everything is going normally with only the news. It is unbelievable how such a little distance away such devastation has occurred.

    Cheers

    Rob

You are all on the regular prayer list in all three churches in my parish, and I doubt that there is a parish anywhere that does not include you. You are all important to us.

Having never experienced a quake, I have no idea what you guys are going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with the whole country. The company I work for has a presence (sp) in Japan, and is gearing up for some kind of relief help.

Good Luck. We're all in this together.

I'm glad you are safe. I can't imagine how difficult it must be now in Japan. I've experienced very minor quakes here in Chicago. The last large one (New Madrid Fauld) was in 1811-12.

I'll keep you in my prayers.

Weeell,as someboby else has already mentioned HIM, can we be sure it wasn THE GREAT OLD ONE himself jumping for joy that a tartan has been created in his honor??

But in earnest:Iḿ keeping you all in my prayers - not to "HIM" by the way - while my sister has left Yokohama for Hongkong many of her friends are still there.

That's great- Japan certainly offers their expertise in such matters to other countries all the time.
