Suddenly I just had to have a Lovat tweed day jacket. Again. And a charcoal grey jacket. And ornate shooting socks. And an Isle of Skye kilt.
It's seeing all the photos of how great these things look!
But I do try to keep things at a minimum, and everything of high quality.
I agree. Quality over quantity is my preferred way to go.

HDAD! So fine! It's the XMTS community's commitment to quality dress, gentlemenly conduct, and wit that keeps me coming back for more. Now that I'm not only a happy self-proclaimed kiltaholic, it seems I'm also prone to HDAD! It's a burden I gladly suffer in the company of others. I can't wait to hear more!

Sometimes driven by others...
I had just decided a couple of months back that I was buying NO MORE KILTS anytime soon...I need a jacket, vest, some traditional garters, etc much more than I need a new kilt.
...But then I get this email that my regimental tartan has just become official and that one of my fellow Soldiers is trying to get together enough interest to do a bulk run of the tartan (custom designed). I, of course, cannot let this opportunity pass me by. If they don't generate enough interest to get a reduced rate on the loom run, I'll probably wait to get the tartan woven...but if they do, I'll have to buy in!!!

One of my wake-up calls was learning that the folks in the Old Country don't keep closets full of kilts but rather have fewer things but they insist that those things be of high quality.

Thank you for this fine wee piece of wisdom, AA. I'm jonesing for my second "high quality" red Robertson (just like the avatar). It's Dalgleish custom weave. I think the "kiltaholism" and the fun factor with HDAD, is connected to a strong awakening to my identity and heritage. I wonder if that, in general, might be a contributing factor to kiltwearing outside Scotland in general and North America in particular. Maybe not the best said. But, what do you guys think?
