My first Kilt
Here I am in my first kilt; don't laugh at the "hose", that's what this thread is about.

I literally got the kilt, sporran, belt and all in the mail hours before my first kilt night.
I'm wanting recomendations on what color kilt hose would go with this kilt. The tartan is Montgomery Modern from Frugal Corner.
I also got flashes matching the tartan. I was thinking that darker hose would look best with the kilt, but then the flashes wouldn't show up.
Any recomendations?
By the way, my first outing in a kilt went pretty well.

Obvious answers are any major colors in the kilt or shades thereof. Navy, royal blue, claret, brick red, etc. The Scottish Tartans Museum (link at the top of every page) has a great selection.

Great start! You will find your way with the colors. Don't be afraid to experiment.

I've seen this tartan paired with lovat green, bottle green, and dark red/claret hose. All looked very nice.
Best of luck!

Looking good! Any complimentary color will look fine...just whatever you do, do NOT over think it

Put down a vote for red - I'm a fan of flashier hose (and I don't mean the things that hold them up)!

Oh, I don't know. What colors do you like? Start from there, keep going and don't look back.

May be just the camera angle, but you may want to check length? Most people, I think, are agreed that middle of the knee-cap is lowest point the kilt should touch

I like mine a little shorter, at the top of the kneecap as I find this better for walking. The military seem the wear their kilts shorter maybe to stop the knees rubbing while marching.
I have a pair of lovat blue and another in bottle green, both look well with burgundy flashes. Just don't buy white. I did on my first pair and my wife said they don't look right so they are now coffee coloured as per advice on another thread. I am thinking of getting another pair in black or navy blue. I have not got any other colour flashes yet as I like the burgundy and they seem to go with any dark colour hose.
Have fun
